Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is the most popular procedure in plastic surgery, and with the advancements in implants over the last decade the results of the procedure are better than ever. Women who have smaller breasts can have them enlarged by inserting an implant behind their natural breast tissue. The implant can be placed either above or below the pectoralis (chest) muscle, and it can be placed through a variety of incision sites.Being fellowship trained in cosmetic breast surgery, Dr. Hermann has extensive experience in breast augmentation. He uses the BodyLogicTM System to take precise measurements of your natural breasts to help select the exact implant size and dimension to provide the look and outcome that you desire.
Breast augmentation surgery is an outpatient procedure with a comparatively quick and easy recovery. Breast augmentation is considered a cosmetic procedure and therefore is NOT covered by insurance. Please see the Breast Augmentation FAQ for more information.
Breast Lift – Mastopexy
For those patients who have developed breast ptosis (sagging) either before or after childbirth, a breast lift (mastopexy) is the procedure of choice to return the breasts to a more youthful and perky appearance. Breast ptosis can involve the breast tissue and/or the nipple and areola. A few select patients will have only nipple ptosis than can be restored to normal position with only a scar around the areola. A consultation with Dr. Hermann will give you the information you need to know what type of breast lift procedure is best for you, as well as whether you should include breast implants in your treatment plan.
Breast Reduction
When a woman’s breasts become too large, they can seriously affect her daily life and make her self-conscious about her appearance. Breast reduction surgery accomplishes two important things – reducing the weight of the breasts, which will alleviate neck and back pain, and lifting the breasts to give them a more youthful and perky appearance.
Breast Reconstruction
For patients who must undergo either a partial or total mastectomy, breast reconstruction surgery offers a woman the opportunity to restore her self-image. Breast reconstruction surgery can be done as either an immediate procedure at time of mastectomy, or it can be done as a delayed procedure after the mastectomy procedure is completely healed.Dr. Hermann uses various techniques to reconstruct the breast, and during your consultation, your individual preferences and desired outcome will help Dr. Hermann develop a reconstruction plan that is tailored specifically for you.
With specialty training specifically in breast reconstruction, Dr. Hermann offers the latest techniques in breast reconstruction, such as fat grafting and the use of AlloDerm®.
Revisionary Breast Surgery
Being fellowship trained in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery provides Dr. Hermann with the expertise to help patients who have already had breast surgery but are unhappy with their results or have had changes in their results over time.
